Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects the way the body processes glucose (blood sugar). With type 2 diabetes, the body either does not produce enough insulin or the body resists the effect of insulin on processing glucose. Type 2 diabetes symptoms include: feeling of extreme thirst and/or hunger- even after eating or drinking, extreme fatigue, blurry vision slow healing cuts and bruises, difficulty maintaining weight tingling pain and/or numbness in hands and feet
Diagnosis and Interventions
Type 2 diabetes is usually diagnosed by different types of blood glucose tests measuring how the body processes drugs in various scenarios: Random blood sugar Fasting blood sugar Oral glucose tolerance test ​ Type 2 diabetes is treated by lifestyle changes including healthy eating and exercise, and in some instances medication or insulation therapy. Common medications include, but are not limited to: Metformin, Sulfonylureas DPP-4 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists
